He doesn't even have to make sense - he's unrestrained id, shouting out the unedited garbage that his fans wish they had the balls to say out loud but they don't - they CAN'T because they would get a well-deserved beatdown from anyone in hearing range and they know it.

Tiresome, petty, evil, and wrong, wrong, wrong about everything that matters to decent Americans who look forward to a future without him or anyone who kisses his lying, drug felon, sex tourist ass.

This is the future of the Republican Party. As if Bush wasn't bad enough.

"...For any of you who may have forgotten, an established practice of redistricting after census was ridden over by ambitious Republican party members who had visions of a permanent majority. They powered the mess through, and pitted Democrats in office against right wing electorates in the 2004 election. For a time, that gave them a majority, but it resulted to my glee in the election of a Democrat to replace Tom DeLay when his misdeeds got so out of hand his party wouldn't stand for him any longer. Redistricting had gone forward in his district on the assumption that he would hold on forever, and a large segment of mixed income, mixed race voters were put into that area. They voted in Democrat .... So much for that power grab."

Schadenfreude, indeed. I remember watching the horror of the Texas redistricting fight as DeLay and his Thugs used Homeland Security and the Texas Rangers to hunt down the elected Dems who fled the Legislature rather than be counted for a blatantly undemocratic vote.

A totally disreputable website called WhosDatedWho has reported that Maureen McPhilmy, who's now married to Fox shouting head Bill O'Reilly, once dated cracked-out rapper Flavor Flav. This has already spawned much mockery and philosophical schadenfreude among bloggers, who point out that O'Reilly is the prototypical rap-hating nilla Republican bastard. The fact that the same website says that O'Reilly himself has dated both Jeff Gannon and Reichen Lehmkuhl doesn't seem to have come up as a counterpoint. Still, we're going to choose to believe that Bill O'Reilly married Flavor Flav's ex until Bill personally comes on our show to tell us otherwise...

So much for the Edwards story - let's push this. It's BIG, people!

FYI - somebody in Iowa tried a citizens arrest of Rove last week. And there's a $5K bounty on Condi's head in Aukland for a citizens arrest. Rummy got run out of France last october.

School Children Thrown Under The (Private) Bus:

One of the things that the Bush administration is breaking now is public transportation for school children. Why? So that private businesses like the owner of Greyhound Bus Lines can open up new lines of business offering more expensive private bus service to school districts.

The Federal Transit Administration last month closed its comment period on a new regulation that will cut off federal funding for bus routes that it believes primarily exist to get children to and from school. Under the new rules, a school system could subsidize a child's bus ride on public transit, but a public bus system could not significantly order its routes or schedules for the convenience of these children...

It's important to realize that it took the better part of 30 years to get the first rail line, only seven miles long, built. It was put on the ballot more times than I can count and the people voted for it every single time, but DeLay, et al, managed to stall it every single time.

It took DeLay getting wacked politically on the state and federal levels to get the project moving forward. Since Mayor White, who is a hugely popular Clintonista, BTW, has been pushing mobility, we've seen a lot of progress. He's also fond of sidewalks, apparently, and changed the city's rules so that new street repairs INCLUDE new sidewalks!

Maybe Bush's brand of frighteningly inept politicking has been just the right kind of sociocultural emetic to induce a true purge of our congested system, just the thing to finally snap us out of our lethargy. Hell, sometimes you gotta go deep into the darkness to realize just how much you need the light.

So thank you, George, for exemplifying and embodying everything that's wrong with the neocon agenda, for serving as the final death knell of the failed conservative movement, of a once-noble Republican Party that's run out of ideas and has turned bitter and nasty and paranoid...

I don't need another reason to hate Thugs, I really don't - but the working poor are getting FUCKED. TODAY. RIGHT NOW.:

Rural U.S. Takes Worst Hit as Gas Tops $4 Average

Here in the Mississippi Delta, some farm workers are borrowing money from their bosses so they can fill their tanks and get to work. Some are switching jobs for shorter commutes.

People are giving up meat so they can buy fuel. Gasoline theft is rising. And drivers are running out of gas more often, leaving their cars by the side of the road until they can scrape together gas money.

The disparity between rural America and the rest of the country is a matter of simple home economics. Nationwide, Americans are now spending about 4 percent of their take-home income on gasoline. By contrast, in some counties in the Mississippi Delta, that figure has surpassed 13 percent.

As a result, gasoline expenses are rivaling what families spend on food and housing.

I'm seeing more people walking around with friggin' GAS CANS than ever before.
