I am realizing due to some very painful RL events right now, that the only thing you can do wih people who are bound for self-destruction is to let them go, and act to minimize the surrounding damage.
They won't change, you cant save them, they don't want to be saved.
"It is only August and the race has already become too nasty. The fault, mainly, lies with the Republicans’ attempt to repeat the 2004 Swift-boating. Mr. Obama has an inspiring life story that can help counter those attacks. Mr. McCain’s personal history is also inspiring, but he seems intent on lowering the tone of the campaign rather than raising it."
~ Krugman: Accentuate the Negative - "The Obama campaign, on the other hand, doesn’t need to convince voters either that he’s the awesomest candidate ever or that Mr. McCain is a villain. All it has to do is tarnish Mr. McCain’s image enough so that voters see this as a race between a Democrat and a Republican. And that’s a race the Democrat will easily win. "
"What we have learned this summer is this: McCain’s trigger-happy temperament and reactionary policies offer worse than no change. He is an unstable bridge back not just to Bush policies but to an increasingly distant 20th-century America that is still fighting Red China in Vietnam and the Soviet Union in the cold war. As the country tries to navigate the fast-moving changes of the 21st century, McCain would put America on hold."
A totally disreputable website called WhosDatedWho has reported that Maureen McPhilmy, who's now married to Fox shouting head Bill O'Reilly, once dated cracked-out rapper Flavor Flav. This has already spawned much mockery and philosophical schadenfreude among bloggers, who point out that O'Reilly is the prototypical rap-hating nilla Republican bastard. The fact that the same website says that O'Reilly himself has dated both Jeff Gannon and Reichen Lehmkuhl doesn't seem to have come up as a counterpoint. Still, we're going to choose to believe that Bill O'Reilly married Flavor Flav's ex until Bill personally comes on our show to tell us otherwise...
So much for the Edwards story - let's push this. It's BIG, people!
Reviewing the film for MSNBC, Alonso Duralde wrote that Bale's Batman in "Batman Begins""sounded absurdly deep, like a 10-year-old putting on an `adult' voice to make prank phone calls. This time, Bale affects an eerie rasp, somewhat akin to Brenda Vaccaro doing a Miles Davis impression."
Julia Nunes - I'd have a crush on her, but I'm not worthy. In the meantime, this 19-year-old ukelele cutie is carving out her own personal hole on the Net. I'm proud to be a subscriber.
"It's Raining Men" is a song written by Paul Jabara and Paul Shaffer in 1979, and originally recorded by The Weather Girls in 1982. The song had been offered to a who's-who of female singing legends including Donna Summer, Grace Jones, Diana Ross, Cher, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Teena Marie, Gloria Gaynor, and even Barbra Streisand before being accepted by Martha Wash and Izora Armstead of The Weather Girls, with their version becoming an international hit, selling over 6 million copies worldwide.
It was covered by Martha Wash (of The Weather Girls) as a duet with RuPaul in 1997, Geri Halliwell in 2001 and by Young Divas in 2006. The song is hailed as a camp classic and more recently as a dance anthem, and as a classic female anthem.
