Paris schadenfreude
Paris Hilton Back To Jail, Back To 45 Days, Minus 5
Just three words: "convicted drunk driver".
45 days hard time was light. It should have been 6 months to a year.
There are more important things to discuss, surely, but...heh.

Iraq Study Group report
Atrios wrote:
It was six months ago today that the all-important Iraq Study Group report was released. ... Since its release, approximately 585 US troops have died.
Three per day; One hundred per month.
The human price to America of Bush's intransigence, and the Congressional Dems' cowardice. Treasure untold lost, countless Iraqi lives lost, thousands of American families permanently broken.

GOP Debates: "kill Muslims"
Amazing (not really) that all of these evil bastards are running for President on a "kill Muslims" platform. (Execpt for Tancredo, who's running on a "kill Mexicans" plank.)
And any platform that doesn't include "kill Muslims" is considered too soft and girly.

The Stand
The Stand has been airing to today on SciFi, and I can't shake the question: What the hell has happened since 1994?
Every dollar spent is right there on the screen. Actors are acting and they're doing their level best. It's only 13 years later and a project like this would be unheard of now -- much to expensive, and it would terrify the network executives to greenlight a project this audacious!
