Corpse Bride

Saw Corpse Bride in second-run this weekend. Not as musically satisfying as Nightmare Before Christmas, nor does it have a character as epic as Jack Skellington, but really lovely and sweet, rather like the romantic origins of the Addams Family, before the screaming and the madness.

There are at least 5 or 6 shots worth turning into posters.

An incident.

GWPDA, yclept Irate Scholar : I nearly ran into her one morning, very early, crossing Hyde Park. It was, of course foggy and grey, and in the distance, coming toward me, a striding black smallness, which resolved into Miss Kitt, wearing an unquestionable Blackglama, full length mink. I managed to nod and wish her Good Morning, very quietly. She did the same and strode onward.

Properly done, and a story properly told.

OOPS

Eschaton: "Thwarted"

Oops:

The president strode away from reporters looking annoyed after one said he appeared 'off his game'.

President Bush tugged at both handles on the double doors before admitting: 'I was trying to escape. Obviously, it didn't work.'

Mr Bush flies to Mongolia on Monday to complete his East Asia tour.

-Atrios 1:45 PM"

I'm betting that it happens again, now that reporters know that they can get a rise and a tantrum out of him.

Love is not all...

Love is not all: it is not meat nor drink
Nor slumber nor a roof against the rain;
Nor yet a floating spar to men that sink
And rise and sink and rise and sink again;
Love can not fill the thickened lung with breath,
Nor clean the blood, nor set the fractured bone;
Yet many a man is making friends with death
Even as I speak, for lack of love alone.
It well may be that in a difficult hour,
Pinned down by pain and moaning for release,
Or nagged by want past resolution's power,
I might be driven to sell your love for peace,
Or trade the memory of this night for food.
It well may be. I do not think I would.

Texas anti-gay legislation

Proposition 2 passed by a 3-1 margin in TX...About what I expected, since the ignorant redneck-to-enlightened citizen ratio is roughly the same.

That's ok, though -- the raw wording on Prop 2 effectively outlaws all marriages, esp common-law. The fallout ought to be fun.

Next year -- rolling back that nasty interracial marriage business -- should never have allowed that!

A little about myself. Or her.

:: She dramatized herself into moving out two years ago. (It had been two years before that that she told me that she didnt love me anymore. Right.) She left our daughters with me when she found out that she couldnt [bother to] get them into school where she was.

A year later, and after hearing all about the men who were going to "fix her life" [ha.], I met my current girlfriend. Much, MUCH drama-queening about the new SO, who is a schoolteacher, being with our kids. Herself got herself evicted from her apartment and moved back in with me [she was still on the lease].

More drama, until [get this] she threw me out of my own apartment. [I refused to stop seeing my new GF].

All the time all of this 'child of God' and 'I'm sancified' BS.

I'm paying child support now and I can't see my girls because she won't obey the visitation agreement and let me take them. I can see them at her house but she monopolizes all of the time, talking about herself.::
