A day later...
Quite frankly, I don't know how I'm feeling. Having run away from, what was effectively, nothing at all.
"My candle burns at both ends; It will not last the night; But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends It gives a lovely light!" ~ Edna St. Vincent Millay

I know the feeling well Meander; I am a weather wimp of the worst order and regularly flee from hurricanes and I'm in west Tennessee! (I'm also in a mobile home on a lot with a dozen trees of massive diameter, all surrounded on 3 sides by more forest. There are probably 20 or more trees that could damage or destroy my house if they fell in the wrong direction.)
We've executed Operation Bugout probably five times in six years, the last one three weeks ago for Katrina. Never once has there been so much as a speck of damage when we got home.
And you know what? I'll do it again next time. Better to run when you don't need to than to stay put when you shoulda run.
(Signed, Xan. Blogger doesn't seem to remember me, a common phenomena, alas. :) )
Thanks, Xan -- I've never, never had to evacuate before, so, who knew?
